Downtown Thursday, The Valley
Thursday June 23

Downtown Thursdays are back in West Orange featuring unforgettable family fun all summer long! Enjoy all the shopping, dining, and exclusive giveaways that Downtown West Orange has to offer with this bi-weekly event featuring music, downtown activities, outdoor dining, arts and crafts, and more! The free event series kicks off June 23 in The Valley at the corner of Quinby Place and Kingsley Street from 5-8 p.m. Do crafts with local businesses and organizations, enjoy local food from West Orange restaurants, food from How Delish + Benji's Food Truck, and outdoor games - all while listening to fun music from a DJ!

Independence Day Celebration & Food Truck Festival
Monday, July 4

On Monday, July 4, West Orange will celebrate Fourth of July in style with festivities featuring food, fun and fireworks all starting at 1 p.m. at the West Orange High School campus (Conforti Avenue Field, 51 Conforti Avenue). Fireworks will begin promptly at 9 p.m. sponsored by the West Orange Recreation Department.

Bring your appetite and the family for some tasty fare during the sixth annual Food Truck Festival from 1-9 p.m. DJ entertainment will also provide a festive backdrop and food sales will be available throughout the day. The Independence Day festivities will also include a Kid Zone and other fun activities for little ones throughout the day. Visitors should enter the Food Truck Festival at 555 Pleasant Valley Way, as the Conforti Avenue entrance will be blocked off.

After the food and festivities, bring your blankets (no chairs allowed on the turf) and stake out your favorite vantage point on West Orange High School Soccer & Baseball fields for the fireworks display set to commence at dusk. View the flyer.

Jelani Remy: The Back Home Series, OSPAC
Friday, July 8

Broadway's Jelani Remy will return to West Orange's OSPAC for this special Back Home Series. Presented by Pleasant Valley Productions, this benefit concert will star Jelani Remy of Broadway's Ain't Too Proud and The Lion King. Gates open at 7 p.m. https://www.pleasantvalleyproductions.org/.

Sponsored by the West Orange Recreation Department, an Old Fashioned Drive-In Movie will take place on Saturday, July 16 at the West Orange High School, 51 Conforti Avenue. Snack bar will be available and gates open at 8 p.m.

Thomas Edison National Historical Park
Thomas Edison National Historical Park is conveniently located in West Orange's Downtown. Thomas Edison hails from West Orange, and visitors are encouraged to explore how Edison's inventions helped shape modern America at the park, where Edison's home and laboratory are beautifully preserved. Glenmont Garage Exhibit, Thomas Edison National Historical Park (TENHP)
Through the years, Thomas Edison owned a variety of electric, gasoline and even steam powered cars. To house and better maintain these cars, the Glenmont Garage was built in 1908 replacing a carriage house - currently housing four automobiles owned by Thomas Edison: a 1922 Model T Ford, a 1908 Electric Locomobile, and 2 Detroit Electrics, a fifth car, a 1936 Brewster, was owned by Charles Edison. Event occurs weekly on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at Thomas Edison National Historical Park.

Oskar Schindler Performing Arts Center (OSPAC)
The OSPAC is a beautiful, five-acre outdoor theater located on the first mountain at the Crystal Lake Park Facility and features spectacular live performances. The facility features an open-air amphitheater built into the natural slope of the land where guests can bring lawn chairs and picnic blankets to listen to music and outdoor theater productions.

Rock Spring Golf Club

Codey Arena
The Essex County Codey Arena offers a state-of-the-art ice skating and hockey arena. Located in West Orange, the arena is as part of the South Mountain Recreation Complex. Ice skating arena is open to the public for skating, group skating lessons, private ice-skating lessons, and birthday parties. Figure skating sessions and ice hockey camps and clinics are also available.
